Levain Bakery is located on the Upper West side on 74th street. It is a small cozy bakery; it makes the best cookies in New York City. I used to be a thin cookie fan; Tates were my one true love. One day I met the chocolate chip walnut cookie by Levain and I never looked back. You walk down the narrow stairs hit by the smell of freshly baked cookies. Levain Bakery makes beautiful breads, scones and sticky busn, but the real reason to make the journey to the Upper West Side is for the cookies. They make chocolate chip walnut, oatmeal raisin, dark chocolate chip, and dark chocolate peanut butter chip. My favorite is the chocolate chip walnut; it is deadly. The cookie is warm when you receive it, with the chocolate chips still melty. The outside has a crispy armor and the inside is mushy.

I must concur – No one makes a better Chocolate Chip Walnut cookie than Levain’s!
