My friends, Olivia and Louisa, and I had a girl’s afternoon in Park Slope. We started the day at Music Matters, a small music store at 417 7th Avenue near 13th Street. The walls are covered with vinyl covers and racks of CDs. For the people who like to jam out old school, they also sell used cassette tapes– three tapes for $1. For an upcoming road trip,Louisa bought Cat Stevens Greatest Hits, Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel, and Figure 8 by Elliott Smith. I got a couple of old cassettes for my brother.

Next we made our way to Beacon’s Closet, which is located at  92 5th Avenue, near Prospect Place. Beacon’s Closet has a great variety of clothing–new and old.  Olivia found a beautiful green and yellow woolen coat and Louisa got a few lovely floral skirts for spring. I picked up a mini leather skirt and a white Members Only jacket (perfect for any future 80’s themed party).

We ended our day at the Atlantic Mall, with pints of Ben and Jerry’s amazing Peanut Buttahcookie Core and Hazed & Confused ice cream. Overall a pretty successful day of music, thrifting, and food.
