A beautiful summer day in New York is best spent outside on a bike. For my boyfriend Thomas’ birthday he and I wanted to do something fun, so we decided to visit our favorite pie shop: Four and Twenty Blackbirds. We biked from Dean St. to the store on 439 3rd Ave between 8th and 7th street. The pie crust at Four and Twenty Blackbird is killer.  If you’re ever craving pie this is the place to go–my personal favorite is the Salted Caramel Apple. This time I decided to try the peach and tomato pie and Thomas got the birch beer float pie. As odd as a peach and tomato may sound together the combination works! We put the pies in my bag and we headed off to our next stop: Wholefoods. We wanted to have a little picnic by the water, so we bought goat cheese, a baguette, a few figs and I brought along some home grown tomatoes. From the side of the Gowanus canal we biked to Dumbo and enjoyed a beautiful view of Manhattan.   Although it was a relatively simple lunch, it was tasty and cheap!
